Rosehip seed oil is a nature’s wonderful gift to support our endeavours for successful acne scar treatment. The first major confirmation of its healing power came in 1983, when the University of Santiago conducted research on 180 individuals. These tests studied people with extensive facial scarring, acne scarring, deep wrinkles, UV damage, radiation damage, burn scars, surgical scars, premature aging, dermatitis, and other skin related problems. The results put forth that rosehip seed oil regenerated the skin, reduced acne scars and wrinkles, prevented the advancement of wrinkles and aging, and helped skin to regain its natural color and tone.
Rosehip seed oil is a herbal product that contains essential fatty acids (EFAs), vitamin C, and natural tretinoin—a derivative of vitamin A and well-known topical medication for acne. Rosehip seed oil contains both linoleic fatty acid (Omega 6) and linolenic fatty acids (Omega 3) which are the EFAs that are important skin nutrients for the rebirth of healthy skin membranes, and for the regeneration and repair of the acne scarred skin. EFAs also reduce the pore size thereby are great help in people with large pores. It is important to note here that rosehip seed oil is not a preferred for acne on oily skin but used for post acne scar reduction.
Natural retinol acid is 125mcg per every 100g of the rosehip seed oil. Vitamin A is known to delay the effects of skin aging, assist with cell regeneration, and promote the increase in collagen and elastin levels. This results in firmer, smoother, and more youthful skin with greater elasticity. Thus, the nutrients in rosehip seed oil work together to reduce wrinkles and restrict discoloration associated with acne scars thereby reviving the perfect skin texture.
Rosehip seed oil should be applied over the acne scars with light massage two times in every 24 hours for at least three months to obtain dramatic results. The consistency of rosehip seed oil is dry to very dry and is useful in all kinds of face oils where the purpose is cell regeneration. The high quantity of linolenic acid is responsible for a low melting point (20ºC minus) of rosehip seed oil. By adding rosehip seed oil to your skin, you reduce the overall melting point of the fats in your skin allowing the body to process them.
Also, rosehip seed oil has a short surface time on the skin which means that is absorbed fast and leaves no fatty residue. This is another reason why rosehip seed oil is so good for face oils. Due to the high level of poly-unsaturated fatty acids, it is advised to buy the oil added with 0s.5 E-vitamin oil for preventing the oil from going rancid. Without this, the rosehip seed oil has a shelf life of less than 6 months. Adding 0.5% E-vitamin oil increases the shelf life to around 2 years. The best part about this therapy is that rosehip seed oil is 100% organic and no synthetic chemicals are used. This reduces the risks of side effects caused by the acne scar treatments.
